1864 - Nine Master Masons meet in Prescott, AZ at Governor John Goodwins house and decided to apply to California for a dispensation (Source: (GLOA History)
January, 1867 - a Charter was granted to Aztlan Lodge No. 177 under the state of California (Source: GLOA History)
October 16th, 1879 - Arizona Loge No. 257 is chartered under the State of California (Source: GLOA History)
1881 - Tucson Lodge in Tucson and Solomon Lodge in Tombstone are chartered under the state of California. White Mountain Lodge in Globe is chartered under the state of New Mexico. (Source: GLOA History)
March, 1882 - On March 23rd, representatives from these four lodges (Arizona, Tucson, Solomon & White Mountain) convened in Tucson for the purpose of considering the propriety of establishing a Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons for the Territory of Arizona. Aztlan Lodge later became a charter member of the Grande Lodge of Arizona, and together these Five original lodges, still in existence today, are referred to as the "Territorial Lodges". (Source: GLOA History)
The History of Arizona Lodge #2
October 16th, 1879 - Arizona Lodge #2 was originally chartered as Arizona Lodge #257 under the state of California
July 17th, 1882 - The first meeting as Arizona No. 2 was held.
In 1887, a committee was appointed to look into the feasibility of building on a “Masonic Lot” (not identified) but it was decided, “to do nothing”.
February 6, 1900 – the lodge considered nine locations for possible purchase of which, the eventual site was not on that list.
October 3, 1905 - The first board of Trustees was authorized consisting of seven members of the lodge.
July 5, 1921, a building fund was established for all funds not used in the daily operation of the lodge
January 2, 1923 – The Chairman of the Board of Trustees proposed “the purchase of 150’ frontage on Monroe Street at the SE corner of its junction with Fourth Avenue for the price of $25,000.00”.
1926 - construction of the Temple building was completed..........
